Chevrolet to Provide Gas-Friendly Vehicles during GRAMMY Week

First Ever Gas-Friendly GRAMMY Fleet to Transport the Music Industry’s Hottest Talent; Chevy Volt Concept Brings

A fleet of gas-friendly vehicles from Chevrolet will bring an eco-friendly presence to the 50th Annual GRAMMY® Awards on Sunday, February 10. As the “official vehicle of the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards,” Chevrolet will provide both Hybrid and FlexFuel E85 ethanol SUVs to transport talent to the Awards telecast and other GRAMMY Week events. In addition, Chevrolet will “electrify” the red carpet with a show-stopping display of the extended-range electric vehicle Chevy Volt Concept car.

This marks the first time a “fuel-friendly” fleet of vehicles this size has been partnered with,
and branded for a major awards show. The GRAMMY Fleet of Chevy vehicles will consist of a mix of 100 Tahoe Hybrids and FlexFuel E85 ethanol Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. GRAMMY presenters, performers and VIPs will not only arrive at their destinations in a fuel-efficient way, but also in grand style with each vehicle being customized with exterior GRAMMY badging.

“This is an unprecedented venture for an automotive manufacturer to provide a fleet of so many ‘fuel-friendly’ vehicles at a major awards show,” said Jay Flaherty, regional divisional marketing manager for Chevrolet in GM’s Western Region. “We’re delighted to celebrate our partnership with the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards by providing fuel-friendly transportation for the music industry’s hottest talent.”

The Chevy Tahoe Hybrid – which was recently named Green Car Journal’s 2008 Green Car of the Year® – is one of two all-new hybrid models for 2008 (the other being the Malibu Hybrid sedan) featuring the affordable GM Hybrid System.

The Tahoe Hybrid boasts vastly improved fuel economy over its gasoline-only sibling, thanks in large part to a state-of-the-art hybrid system using GM’s all-new Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT), as well as Active Fuel Management and specific aerodynamic aids and lighter components. The Tahoe Hybrid 2WD achieves EPA city fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon, equal to the city fuel economy of the four-cylinder 2008 Toyota Camry.

Biofuels such as E85 ethanol have tremendous potential to help offset the world’s growing energy demands, and General Motors offers more FlexFuel E85 ethanol-capable models than any other brand (GM currently has 2.5 million FlexFuel E85 ethanol vehicles on the road).
FlexFuel E85 ethanol vehicles – like the Tahoe and Silverado – can run on either gasoline or E85 ethanol – a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline – or a combination of both.

In addition to helping us reduce petroleum use and promote energy independence, E85 ethanol fuel produces fewer greenhouse gases during the combustion process and can enhance engine performance. It is a cleaner fuel made today from mostly U.S.-grown biomaterial, such as corn. But researchers are working on broadening the supply of ethanol by turning other non-food plant materials such as lumber mill waste, switchgrass, lawn clippings and even garbage into what’s called cellulosic ethanol. Unlike corn-based ethanol, the cellulose in the products used to make cellulosic ethanol must be pre-treated and then broken down into sugars before they can be fermented, a step called cellulosis. The technology required to do this is under development.

The Chevy Volt Concept sedan is powered by GM’s E-Flex electric propulsion system and exhibits the potential to greatly reduce trips to the gas station for many commuters, as well as reduce C02 emissions. More than 75 percent of drivers in the United States commute fewer than 40 miles a day, and for these drivers a fully-charged Chevy Volt will use no gas and produce no tailpipe emissions. It is easily recharged by plugging into a common 110-volt electrical outlet.

A battery-powered, four-passenger vehicle, the Chevy Volt uses a gas engine to create additional electricity to extend its range. The electricity to operate the Volt can come from a number of energy sources – including renewable ones such as wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and biofuels – or from traditional sources such as natural gas, clean coal, nuclear or even gasoline.

The 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 10, 2008 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. The show is scheduled to be broadcast live by the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), supported on radio via Westwood One worldwide, and covered on the Internet at GRAMMY.com. and branded for a major awards show. Feeding Dogs Bones

For decades, images of dogs happily chewing on bones have been promoted on television and in motion pictures. As a result, pet owners have been feeding their dogs both raw and cooked bones, thinking that they are providing a natural form of nutrition for their pets. In reality, they are compromising the dog’s health and unintentionally risking the animal’s life. The consumption of bones by dogs has resulted in vomiting, organ puncture, and cancer. Feeding dogs bones is not a good thing to do!

Dogs are natural and instinctive scavengers. They might not be fed bones by their guardian, but they can find them in trash cans, on unattended plates, and when they find a dead animal, such as a bird or rat. This is very dangerous and must be prevented. One of the more common dangers of bone consumption is bone splinters. Bones from small birds, such as starlings, or medium-sized birds, such as chickens, as well as fish and other meats, can easily splinter when chewed and disperse inside an unsuspecting dog, leading to ripping and tearing of internal organs, and, possibly, death.

In addition to the intestinal danger that results from eating bones, dogs may experience cracking or breaking of teeth. This could result in prolonged periods of pain for the animal because tooth injuries are not as easily noticed as other physical ailments. When the problem is discovered, the dog may have to undergo oral surgery to remove infections, reconstruct a tooth, or extract teeth. This is painful and traumatic for the dog and can be very costly for the dog’s guardian.

If a pet owner is in doubt regarding proper nutrition for a dog, it is recommended that they consult a veterinarian, or, at the very least, perform cursory research on the internet. Food requirements vary, depending on a dog’s breed, weight, and size. If a pet owner can’t bear not to give the dog a treat, use rawhide or chew bones made of dog food purchased at the store or pet shop.

A proper diet for a dog contains a balance of nutrients that are low in fat and are easily digestible. Veterinarians do not recommend that dogs receive ‘table scraps’ or leftovers from the owner’s meals. Eating these foods can result in weight gain and a rejection of food specifically prepared for dogs. In particular, dogs should never be given chocolate, raw meats, or raw organ meats. These foods can cause skeletal problems and toxicity in dogs. They, along with real bones, are a “No, no!”

One of the best, and most easily accessible, sources of information regarding animal nutrition is the internet. A concerned dog owner can search the internet using words such as “feeding dogs,” “dog food,” or “dog nutrition.” The resulting information will include general nutrition information, feeding a specific a breed of dog, and training a dog to eat certain foods. Chew bones and other safe treats are also available on the internet.

Dogs can be fed properly, safely, and consistently when everyone in the home, or family and friends outside the home, are aware of the dog’s dietary needs. This information will help anyone who may be taking care of the dog in an owner’s absence. Dog owners should list the foods that the dog eats and the way in which the food is prepared. Also, there should be a prominent notation stating that feeding bones to the dog is prohibited. Since feeding dogs bones is very dangerous, be sure that no one, family, friend, or dog-sitter ever does!

Fat Burning Diet Tips and Facts

Many people seem to think that to lose weight fast, you must starve yourself or buy the newest diet pill; it’s sooo much more complex than that! If you have tried to get slim quick with these automated ‘do nothing’ methods, you probably will admit to their inefficient results.

The truth of the matter? you need to eat! Even to lose weight quickly, you still need to consume a lot of food on a daily basis, however it’s what you consume that will determine the difference between losing your belly or other fat, or just adding to it later once you give up again!

I’ll tell you this: Low fat and low calorie diets don’t work. Why? This method actually slows down your bodies fat burning engine, and once you lose that first bit of weight, all efforts will come to what ’s known as the ‘dieting plateau’. Low carb diets are also popular now, however these often come with very strict and hard to follow routines that the average person simply will not follow.

Weight loss programs usually take the ’slow and steady’ approach, and you usually have to buy into meal plans, dietary supplements and again follow a routine that probably clashes with your day to day living to the point where you just give up! Isn’t there anything out there that offers an accelerated fat burning diet without side-effects or crazy routines? Ehemm, actually…. there is.

Perhaps you’ve heard of this product that is making its way around the internet right now, and is eating up (no pun) all the competition WITHOUT the need to fill your head with insane promises or false claims. In fact, this plan boasts a very high success rate, and this is the reason for its continued growth among those that are just dying (again, no pun) to lose weight fast.

Very appropriately titled ‘FatLoss4Idiots’, this fat filer program takes you on a step by step of how our society eats, consumes the worst things our bodies can handle, and what the necessary course of action is to lose 9 lbs every 11 days. Yes you read that right, the average person that follows this plan actually loses more than 1.3 lbs day, but most importantly-IT’S SAFE!

Not many accelerated fat burning diets offer these results without having to include its side-effects (don’t you love those new commercials where the side-effects are rambled on for 10+ seconds and seem to outweigh the desired results from the pill/product?) because there are NO side-effects to this, and your weight WILL indeed stay off this time.

Do you already eat 3 times a day or more? Good you MUST eat, now let’s focus on what you should/shouldn’t be doing with those meals, and what to do before and after those meals to make sure you stay the course and achieve that slamming body you’ve been dying to have! Even Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and the Atkins diet have nothing on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots plan. Why? Due to it’s shear ‘end results’ that thousands can attest to (and that number is growing, while they are all shrinking!).

Stay the course, never give up, and don’t wait another second to get your health and body to where it should be! Your future and family depend on it.
