German tuning firm MTM has got to work bringing the 3-litre V6 diesel A5 on a par with the range-topping S5 on Audi’s new A5 coupe.
The MTM Thunderbolt’s power has been helped up to 300bhp from the standard car’s 240bhp with a full 3D software revision optimising the engine map, while peak torque is increased to 406 lb ft.
The MTM A5 V6 TDI has top speed at 165mph, with a 0-62mph time of 5.9secs.
Despite remaining 50bhp short of the S5, the MTM Thunderbolt beat its range-topping sibling by a full second on the Hockenheim ring.
