Mitsubishi has made announcement for its plans to produce 2,000 Mitsubishi i MiEV electric vehicles in 2009. The Mitsubishi i MiEV’s production will rise to 4,000 units in 2010 and then it will go into mass production. Most of the Mitsubishi i MiEV electric vehicle units will go on the home market priced at around 3 million yen.

Mitsubishi i MiEV will begin testing with a total of 12 units in Europe that will drive across Britain, France and Germany in October.

President Osamu Masuko said the Mitsubishi i MiEV electric car will be launched next year in Japan, its home market. At a reduced price, the Mitsubishi i MiEV will go on sale in 2010.
