Shelby American has released a new model which based on the 2012 Ford Shelby GT500. The new model that simply called Shelby 1000 will be showcased next month by the company at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The company have said that this vehicle is available in two model which includes a street-legal version (Shelby 1000) and a track-only version (Shelby 1000 S/C).
Both of those models are powered by a 5.4 liter V8 engine resulting 950 hp power output for the street legal version, and 1,100 hp power output for the Shelby 1000 S/C (track-only version). Along with a performance fuel system, the vehicle is also equipped with a Super Twin Clutch, aluminum driveshaft, and flywheel kit.
With the massive power generated by Shelby 1000 models, the company has decided to improve its handling to balance the overall strength. Shelby American equips their Shelby 1000 models with a performance cooling kit, a Borla 3″ catback exhaust system, an Eibach R5 suspension system, and also Wilwood brakes that includes 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers.
The company provide their Shelby 1000 models with a fiber glass hood, a customized rear end, various carbon fiber accents, while fitted with 20-inch alloys.
In terms of interior, there are various parts that have been upgraded by the company such as a MGW short throw shifter and an A-pillar gauge pod. Different power will affect the price, that’s why the Shelby 1000 street-legal model is priced at $149,995 for its 950 hp, while the Shelby 1000 S/C price is tagged at $154,995 for its 1,100 hp.
